Women in Beirut discuss experience of women in NE, Syria

to discuss the achievements of women in society, especially in the regions of northern and eastern Syria, a training workshop was held, in which the Newroz Cultural and Social Association, the Jane Women Association, as well as many other women’s organizations in Beirut, participated.

During the workshop, the head of the Newroz League, Hanan Othman, delivered a lecture on the experience of Kurdish women, and their active participation in decision-making positions, during the revolution in the north and east of Syria.

Hanan Othman highlighted the stages of the struggle that women have gone through, starting with the establishment of Kongra Star organization, which aims to establish a society in which women are equal to men, and the protection of women’s rights is one of his priorities, as well as the laws has great value, and a capable experience to be followed throughout Syria.

The international resolution 1325 of 2000 on women, security and peace, which aims to reach women to decision-making positions, was also discussed during the workshop.

The workshop was concluded with a discussion among the attendees, on the experience of the regions of northern and eastern Syria that have achieved women’s leadership, and the dissemination of this experience throughout Syria and the Middle East
