Two months ago, the Women’s Administration in the areas of al-Raqqa, al-Tabqa, Manbij and Deir-ez-Zor launched a campaign under the slogan ” We United, we Won, we will resist, to Protect”. Condemning Turkish threats to incursion in the areas of north and east of Syria, which was announced during statement on April in al-Raqqa city with vast participation from the women of al-Raqqa, al-Tabqa, Manbij, Deri-ez-Zor.
In this context, one of the administrators of the Council of Women in the city of al-Raqqa Ghalia al-Kajwan assessed the functioning of the campaign and said: “Through this campaign we have been able to express our rejection of all forms of violations and injustice against women, one of the events was the revival of the Şengal massacre on August 3 at the Black Stadium, a place where Yazidi women gathered and witnessed their torture.”
More than 250 meetings were held for parents
Ghalia al-Kajwan stressed in her talk to the meetings held in the mentioned areas, and said: “We have held more than 250 meetings of the people, and focused on Turkish occupation army’s practices in the areas it occupies, and educating the people to stay away from the policies followed by a psychological war on the people.
“What attracted us during the campaign was the participation of men alongside women, their unity and unification in the current circumstances, which gave the campaign another luster, hence we see that all the peoples of the regions of northern and eastern Syria reject the Turkish occupation.
The campaign is entering another turn
She pointed out that the campaign will enter a new phase, on the occasion of the approach of the International Day against Violence against Women on November 25, Under a new slogan, “We united, we Won, we Will Resist, to Protect, No violence,” as part of a program developed by the administrators in al-Raqqa, Deir-ez-Zor, al-Tabqa and Manbij..
On the content of the events, Ghalia said: “The campaign will include awareness and training, through holding meetings for the people in all regions, and we will visit homes, especially those who are still hardline in customs and traditions, in coordination with the public councils and communes of the regions, where the banners and slogans that restrict of the violence against women and marriage of minors will be raised. ”
There will also be marches against violence against women, and meetings for clerics to talk about these phenomena to be addressed in sermons in mosques.
